New tire suggestions please.

The time is coming for me to get new tires and quite frankly, I dont know **** about them. However, I do know what I want out of them.

Here are the things im looking for:

-20k Mile tread life (I only put on 6-7k a year so a shorter life span is ok with me)

-Can be dry weather tires. I live in San Diego and it rains all of 15 days a year. Im not worry about rain or snow traction.

-Id like it to be somewhat sticky. I do hit 1/8 mile races occasionally and even for just dicking around on the street, id like some sticky tires.

Thats about all I can think of at the moment, any suggestions based of those? Im looking for a 215/40/17 or a 215/45/17 btw.

I really like bridgestone turanza. Alot less road noise than firestones, much better handling, supposedly rated up to 80k miles, good in rain, and they come stock on acura TL.

2 choices...

Falken Azenis Sport RT-615. Not sure if it comes in the sizes you want yet.

Kumho Excta MX.

of the two, the Azinis has the stiffer side wall. (By quite a bit) But they are Heavier then the MX.

You were right, I havent been able to find those Azenis in my size, but I did come across the Falken Azenis ST-115 in my size. How does that compare to your original suggestion?

Why don't you try the www.vtec.net forum. There is a Tire & Wheel forum with a guy from the TireRack answering any question you may have regarding tires.

i heard a lot of good things about the nitto 555r, i heard they are almost racing slicks

i personally had 3 brand of tires

good year eagle gs-d = standard tires on the is300 for a while, stickiest i had imo, they were bald with wires hanging out, and they still stuck

kumho ecsta mx = good grip, wore out very fast, like 16000 miles or something like that

currently on falken azenis = they are okay, don't have anything good or bad about them i can really tell

my girlfriend just got a set of fuzion zri for 330, they grip pretty good and have a tread rating of 330

I have heard from a friend that NeoGens are extremely sticky. The Kumho MX are awesome tires for that without a doubt. If you are looking for daily beating and the ability to hit the track every once in a while, some Yoko ES 100?

Point taken. What I'm trying to say is there is a person who has experience with many different tires at that site. He can recommend a tire that fit your specific need. Most people here, including me, only have experience with a hand full of tires. The person over there has tested hundreds of tires and I would assume has a better basis for comparison. If you don't want the help that's also your prerogative.

Here are a couple of choices from tire rack, in the size you are looking for.
The Falken azeni sport tires that several people have mentioned are available in 225/45/17 and can be seen at the url below.
The Pirellis will be stickier, the kumho will last longer.
