Need help finding lug nut 'key'

Hey guys,

I ordered set of wheels a short while back and, like the rest, they have these non-standard lug nuts to minimize theft. I'm all for it but this has already proved to be a pain in the ***.

These lug nuts they sent me look like they use a very large (non-standard)Torx bit. The hole is too big for a T-55 and too small for a T-60. They sent me a key to tighten/loosen them but as I tightened the last nut on the 4th wheel the tip literally twisted off like a soda bottle.

So now I'm on the hunt for another key. The key has a number on it that is used to identify what specific size I need for my lug nuts. The number on this particular one is 10566. Some have told me to try Snap-On's website, etc but I've been unsuccessful thus far. If anyone has any ideas on where I can find this 'key' please let me know. Knowing my luck I'm gonna blow a tire and get stuck with a wheel I can't take off.

What brand is the key? Call whoever made the lugnuts and buy another key.

Well then you're going to have to call whoever sold you the locks and find out how to get another key or an alternative method to get them off without destroying anything. If you drill them out, then you're going to need new wheel studs. You can try a bolt extractor, but its going to ruin the wheel most likely. Your other option is to get an allen bit or something that you can hammer into the nut very snugly and back out... but you're going to need 16 of whatver you use, because you'll destroy the bit when you hammer it in.

There are tools out there specifically designed to remove lugnuts without a key. And the tool can be reused. Any decent tire shop will be able to remove the lugnuts for you. It's really quick and easy to do.
