Check out my avatar, I have 17's on there with a stock ride height. If you go with a 205/45/17, those tires the almost the same sive from tread to tread as stock (well for my EX any way) It's just that they are alot wider, about an inch. I got them as a really good deal, btu I where to get another set, I would go for 15's or maybe 16's with a 205. The 17's are just to bumpy on the Ohio roads, but not race car type horrible and the 17's slowed my car down (but that's just my butt dyno talking, and it lies every now and then).

ok, word of advice....... unless you can dish out A LOT of money to get forged rims (and even they bend), get no larger than 17's. With a 35 series tire, the distance between the rim and the road is very little. Mr. Modify and I both use 205/50/16.... I think it's good. I dont worry about the roads too much with 50 series tires and always maintain a good amount of tire pressure. I live in NYC, and like you, we get 4 seasons with LOTS of potholes.....
OEM honda alloy rims or even acura OEM rims
99-00 si rims/2003 ex alloys
2002+ civic si alloys
gsr blades (aka swirlies, ninjas, 98-01 acura integra gsr years)
gsr fat fives (5 spoke ones)
integra ls mesh/webs. found on most Ls/Gs integra models 94+
whoever said 18's... you got lots of homework to do my friend..

I have 225/40 18s which are the thickest tires you can fit on a civic without the need to start shaving! My car looks pretty nice with 18 in those tires but the only problem is that they rub when i make hard u-turns! If you can get 18x7's those are the best because they aren't as wide as the 225/40's which are 7.5's!
