is it logical to get new rims now?

i discovered today that my back two tires are getting pretty bald in the middle (thanks for over inflating them honda.. i know ive never put air in them so yer the only ones that could have done it).. i planned on finally getting some real rims for myself for xmas.. i live in new england.. we get some serious snow up here, and it rains the rest of the year so i was planning on gettin all season tires anyway..
ive driven in snow all my life.. always had all seasons.. never had a problem cuz i dont drive like a jackass in bad weather..
ive always had steelies cuz ive never had money for rims.. bt finally i have some cash.. so
does it make sence to get my 17s now so that i get use to them and have time to break in the new tires before winter.. or should i just suck it up and get 2 new tires and keep rockin my steelies through winter..

Buy some new winter tires for your current steelies and buy some rims near the beginning of the Spring. You should take off the rims and put the steelies back on during the winter anyway so you'll have to get tires for them sooner or later.

thoughthard is an unknown quantity at this point
I would only shop for alloys during the winter. Might find some deals since sales are slow during winter.

Best Idea is to find a set of used steelies with good tires on them. You'll probably be able to pick those up for next to nothing. Search the market place and regional forum and see if anyone's got some.
