braking problem with hawk hps pads.....
well i just re did my brakes and sanded the pads(i didnt do this from the first time i installed them and they started to squeak when i brake) and most of the squeaking wnet away(but there is still a little squeaking)....anyways also my brakes feel spongy also. and i now have a clicking noise when in park(i have an auto) and i press the brakes....a clicking sound comes on in the bottom center console like right below the 2 gear number.
so these are my main questions here.
1) since changing my pads to the hawk hps pads the brake feels spongy and soft, you think i need to bleed my brakes? or is it because my rotors are glazed(?) or do i need to resurface my rotos(car has 26000 miles on it)?
2) now for my squeaking...how do i REALLY get rid of this!!!! i just re did the brakes today(removing the pads sanding them) and the pads still squeak a bit. do i need to resurface my rotors? cuz before when it was squeaking bad...it would squeak in like intervals(like squeeak.............squeeak....and so on)
3)and now for the clicking of the tranny when in park. well this clicking only happens when im in park and i press the brakes. and this just started to happen now after i redid the brakes. you think i hit anything while putting the caliper back in or when putting the stock steelie back in?
thanks your help is much appreciated o a noob!

Well first off, hawk HPS arent really made for street use, they are made for track use, you can use them on the street for daily driving, but they will make noise. Alot of noise. that is normal. That is normal with any track rated pad.
Now if your brakes are spongy, you need to bleed your brakes. When you changed the pads, you should always bleed the brakes at the same time.
Now that clicking is normal. When you hit the brake, you are unlocking something (dont know the correct term) to get your car out of park. If you didnt hit the brake, you wouldnt be able to get the car out of park.

^^ ok thanks for that info and yea i just saw on the thread that truehonda started for the group buy for these(where i purchased them) they are for high performance. but on another note about these pads it states in his thread that this are virtually noise free?!
http://www.7thgencivic.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=165639
so wats the deal here did i do something wrong or is it still normal like that?
and about the clicking noise...it never happened to me before till now. you sure its normal cuz it didnt do this before.

sorry but hawk hps(high performance street) are for the street...i think you were talking about hawk hp+...(street+ light track use)
1-bleed the lines
2- bed-in pads procedure as always recommended with high perf. pads...10 stop from 60 to 5 without complete stop...cool down period after the 10th(rolling) and 24h rest before using again...
3-hawk hps are not noisy like hawk hp+...
note: re-use the shim and put some anti-squeal...

^^ and you think this anti squeal stuff would get rid of the squeaking problem im having? cuz yes that squeaking is very annoying and i didnt put any pf the anti squeal stuff cuz i didnt think i REALLY needed it.
I just had the Hawk HPS pads put on last week. After about a full week of driving on them easily they are brokin in. I found that with most brakes there is a soft period in the beginning where it will not grab as well as it should. But I also put the car in reverse and get a little speed then jam the brakes repeatedly to set them. Once that is done and the brakes heat up, they work fine.
I have noticed that the Hawks stay a little spongier for longer than most other brakes such as the Stillen Metal Matrix pads I had on the Saturn. I also had Powerslot rotors so that made a big difference. Anyways, once the Hawks get warm they seem to grab incredibly with stock rotors and hold on.

just yesterday I installed Brembo blank rotors and Hawk HPS pads and I have zero squeek or squeel and very solid brake feel... I've been so impressed I'm telling all my friends who have Hondas to go with this setup. I installed them myself with no brake greese on the pads, maybe I just got lucky regarding the noise.
Anyway, just wanted to chime in with how much I like those pads.

yeah mine had to be resurfaced so the glazing probably had a good effect on the sponge feeling. No noise or squeak either, I will keep these pads from now on even when I switch to the Powerslot rotors.

so you think if i resurfaced my rotors right NOW that the squeaking my go away? cuz im kinda running short on cash and i might get my brake lines bleeded and maybe resurface the rotors later on like in a few weeks or so. you think this will ruin the pads if i wait?
i'm looking for the right words in english (i'm french...) to get you a clean answer...ok...if your rotors are scratched or railed it will print ,if you know what i mean, your pads with this pattern and it will give you unequal worn (usure)...reduce your pads capacity to stop you and make a squeal sounds in some occasions...always resurface or new rotors with new pads for preserving their longevity and for a 100% contact pattern between the two...i would like to be better in english to really say what i want to say...

^^ naw its cool i get wat your saying. its like if you dont get the rotors resurfaced for awhile and you get them done on a later point, the pads will have sort of like an imprint of the surface of the old pads and the contact area would be different thus reducing the life of the pads on the newly resurfaced rots.
is this wat your trying to say here?
