caliper bolt size ???
caliper bolt size ???
Hi, I'm ready to install my new set of pads (Hawk HPS)
but before I begin, I would like to know what's the size
of the two bolts that hold the caliper to the car ???
Also, what is the tork spec. of these bolts ???
Thanks,
Philippe.

the size of the socket you need is 17mm. Just tighten until you can't go any further. I think it is around 80lbs but I am not sure. Mine are fine and I just tightened until I couldn't anymore. You probably won't be able to get a torque wrench back there.
ok...so...
Ok, I did the pads change (thanks to the DIY).
At this time, I did not know that the correct tork
was 120 lbs so I did the reverse ingenering (spel???)
with my tork wrench and it click at 100 lbs. So I
only put 100 lbs and not 120. Do you think that it's
ok like that ??? I don't want to loose a caliper.
Thanks,
Philippe.

as long as the bolts are tightened you will be fine. I hand tightened mine and I have had no problems whatsoever.
Nice pads too, I have them and love them.

...
Hey, how long does it take for the pads
begin to realy grab ? I did the burnishing processus
(about 10 stop at X km/h...) but the stopping power
is about the same as the oem pads... So does the
performance become better after more stops ???
Phil.

you need to get your brakes bleeded. After that you should start feeling a better grab. they also still need to be worked in, but they do need to get bleeded.

I think that it's not realy important to bleed
if you did not open the hydraulic system. I
will bleed mine only for the pedal feel. (firmer)
(when you push the pistons back, then after
with your new pads, it take a while for these
pistons to seat correctly (about 100 good stops)
So, if you did not open the system, it's a matther
of pedal feel.
By the way, my new HPS have begin to grab...
I realy like these pads.
Hope that everybody can understand my accent
