Tires for 17's

I may be getting some 17s and I will want to upgrade my tires in the package and I do not have a clue what the numbers mean. All I know is that I do not want a real low pro tire and I still want it to ride pretty good. What size tire do you recommend. I also read that certain size tires will make you rim look smaller. I do not want that either. What do yall recommend?

215/40/17

215 = tire width

40 = volume of the inside of the tire, hence the smaller the numbber the thinner the tire

17 = rim size

What is real low profile? If you want a good ride and sidewall protection for the rims go for 15 or 16".
17s look great,ride poor,and get destroyed by anything bigger than a golf ball!
All kidding aside, ther are some awsome rides on here using 15s.
I got 17s with 205-40 tires. Ride poor,look good, corner great!
