SuperFrankie should not be trusted
here is something nice that i found in a book

Tire Size Markings...
All tires carry standard tire size markings on their sidewalls, such as "195/60 R 15 8H"

195 indicates the width of the tire in MM

60 indicates the ratio of the tire section height to width, expressed as a percentage. If no number is present at this point, the ratio is considered to be 82%. this section ratio is also called the aspect ratio or the "profile". a low number here means a low profile tire that won't be as tall as higher-ratio tire

R indicates the tire is of radial ply construction

15 indicates the wheel diameter for the tire is 15 inches

87 is an index number which indicates the max load the tire can carry at max speed

H represents the max speed for the tire, which should be equal to or greater than the car's max speed

*NOTE*some tires have the speed rating symbol located between the tire width and the wheel diameter, attached to the "R" radial tire reference, for example, "195/60 HR 15"

Speed rating symbols for radial tires

Symbol - MPH

P - 93
Q - 99
R - 106
S - 112
T - 118
U - 124

hope this helps some
