I know by doing the search and reading threads that this tire (kumho HP4 716) will fit on my stock 01 EX wheels. I was wondering whether I need a chamber kit because it would be off 4.2 %(185/65/15 to 195/55/15). Additionally, will my tires wear abnormally? I was thinking that I would just use up more gas but still could use the tire without problems. Just wanted some opinions.

I want to get this size because I like the kumho HP4 716 tires and I currently have them in 195/60/15 and want to lower the profile a little.

So again:
1.) Will I need modifications (chamber kit)?
2.) Will my tires wear out abnormally?
3.) If they would wear out abnormally, what can I do to remedy this problem.

A camber kit has very little to do with tires, it has to do with suspension. Yes you use a camber kit to save your tires, but it is only used when lowereing or raising. There is a camber kit on your car that adjusts within OEM specs. They shouldn't wear out abnormally. changing to a different tire size means nothing besides speeding up or slowing down your odometer/speedometer/etc.

interesting question..

however, don't you think going to 195/55/R15 is a bit to expensive?

i know this for sure cos' my bro is complaining about his stock 00' SI size.....cos' it's hard to find in the store and they are freaking expensive...

for example,
in vulcantire.com, known for the cheapness,
195/55/R15 cost $60 something...

while 196/60/R15 cost $38.....

how come? haha

They are more expensive but not by much.

195/60/R15 $39 (what I currently have)

$64 more expensive overrall (for 4 tires). I will burn a little more gas (~4.2%), but I want a lower profile tire. Dont want to change tires either, I've had great success with these tires.

why stay with the 195? its quite narrow. WHy not go with a wider tire??? you'd get better traction. why not go with a 205 or 215?

Because 195/55/R15 $55 x 4 = $210 + $24 S/H = $234 + $70 (for mounting, balancing, stemming, and disposing old tires) = $304 total.

Thats not bad for a tire that lasts me about 40-45k miles. Plus, this tires handle well in the rain and isnt to shabby while taking turns aggresively.

Falken 512s here will cost me $62 x 4 = $248 + 30 s/h + $70 (mounting, disp, etc) = $348.

I dont know how much better in performance they could be from Kumho HP4 716s Kumho HP4 716s. I dont think anyone has had both to compare.

Dont know whether its worth the extra $44. If it was worth it I would get them in a second. Both have a 360 Treadwear, A Traction rating and A temperature rating.

The 512s are suppesed to have a Expected Treadwear of 30,000 miles while the HP4s have a warranty of 50,000 miles
