Quietest tires?
hello, i am now riding on stock tires. i have put my rims back on for about a week, and i could not bare the tire noise. i have 17 inch rims on kuhmo 711 ecsta /215/ 45/ 17. the tires where loud on highway cruising and attributed to more noise during braking.
am i right to assume that the noise is from the tires themselves? the stock tires have a ton less noise.
i have since sold my rims becuase i could not bare the noise. i plan on getting new Rota GRID rims in 16x7 . i beleive the correct tire size would be 205/50/16 ?
what brand of tire can i get that are all season and make little noise?
thanks,

Continental Makes a Decent Allseason performance tires thats pretty quiet, Falken ST-115 is suppose to be quitet, there are a bunch of "quieter" wheels out there.

I have 205/40/17 Kumho 711's and I think theyre quiter then my stock Firestones. My Kumho's have less then 1000 miles on them though. I use to have some 205/40/17 Dayton Daytona ZR tires and they were quiter then stock, but the Kumho's are even more quiter then these and the ride is more comfy to. Check out TireRack.com and read the reviews on tires, they list the noise level as one of the review items.

my kuhmo ecsta supra 712's (205/40/17) are loud and i've also been wondering what kind of wheel offers good handling in wet/dry but won't be so loud. just to clarify: the more grip the tire offers, the louder they'll be?

The closer your tire is to the wheel, the louder it will get. (Low profile tires for example.)
The Potenza RE750 is fairly quiet. The Kumho 712s are so noisy. I remember the first time I rode on them in like 205/45-17s. Sounded almost like the wheels had no tires on them at all on the freeway.
