Ruined 17" RH c2's !!!!
Yesterday I took my car into a Big O Tires store to have 4 brand new tires put onto my existing RH C2 rims. After thet I had to go 2 a Tires Plus to get the alignment because Big O's machine was too tall. While at Tires plus I noticed that three of the four tires were backwards. The word "outside" is on every tire but only 1 was facing the outside. Besides that all 4 of my rims have a 1/2" to 1" notch taken out of the outer edge of the rim, where they put the bar up against the rims when taking the old tires off, and there is 1 scratch that goes aroung the whole perimeter of the rim's outer edge.
On Monday morning I'll be speaking to the owner of Big O but I am wondering how I should go about this issue. The rims were new and I told the manager before they started that they were new and that to be very careful.
any suggestions????
thanks

wow man that sux...... well this'll be like any other customer service complaint.. i'd first be polite, then i'd be firm, then i'd remind them that they dont make that much money off of me the first time, but rather if i keep going back..... finally they screwed up, small claims court (BUT i Highly doubt it'll go that far) and yes the manager is a good person to speak to

Holy **** that sucks. First, take alot of pics of them so you have some proof in case they try to screw you over. Obviously they fooked up and didnt pay attention.
What they should of done is used a scratchless tire mounting system. Supposedly this machine is 99% safe is what I was told. When you talk to the owner, tell them what you just wrote. I would however start the conversation off by asking if they have a touchless system, and if so, why wasnt it used. If they dont, then they should of warned you that there could be a possibility of damage or recommend a different store. Then ask why three of the tires were mounted wrong. This will set the tone of the conversation, and give you the upper hand. Before the conversation ends, make sure you show them a copy of the reciept for the wheels and mention that you took plenty of pictures.
If it were me, I'd be pushing for new wheels especially if I paid alot of money for C2's. Dont let them screw you over, they owe you new wheels and at least a free road harzard warranty on the tires. Good luck and let us know WTF happens..

I was watching when they were mounting them. They put a bar between the rim's outer edge and the old tire. then pushed the part of the bar that they were holding towards the center of the rim. This is how the notch got into the rims. When the machine turned the rim to remove the old tires the scratches happened.
There is no sign in their store that says that damage can occur, and I told them that they were brand new and they said that "We do tons of custom wheels and that's why we have an expensive machine" The receipt also makes no mention of any such policy.
I spoke to three other tire stores and they all said that they would of made it right. They all said that the damage was definately the result of a tire changing machine, and the only time a machine was used was at KC Trends who sold me the C2s and this time, and I know for certain that KC Trends does things right!!
This store is a franchise "Big O Tires" so I hope the owner will make things good. Otherwise I will call channel 5 which broadcasts companies who screw over people, I will call my lawyer, and get those other tire reps as testimony to the incident. Besides, I do have photos but cannot seem to load them, any suggestions?? Thanks for the support.

Those almost look like they can be buffed out. You should try using the macro feature on your camera. Its for taking close ups. If they screw you over park your car outside their shop with a picket sign.. lol. Just kidding, goos luck and let us know what happens.
if you told them they were new and they knew it, and were irresponsible... they should pay for the damage. point blank, there shouldn't be ANY damage to a rim when the tires are put on and balanced.

I would just get another set of the same rims if you like them, that way the manager doesn't think you are possibly trying to screw hm into paying more than your rims were worth

If they give you the run around you can contact the corporate headquaters and they can help you out, thats what i did. Its odd hearing about another BigO tire story....we have one here in jasper and i had my fair share of problems...first id talk to the owner, then id resort to talking to the HQ
