17" rim with what size tires???

i got 205/40/17 rims now and im having my car lowered in about a week and im getting new tires on it to make the wheel gap a little smaller.....im putting on neuspeed sport springs (1.75F/1.5R) and i want new tires that are a little bigger to close up my wheel gap even more....what do u suggest? BUT would i still have a big wheel gap with 205/40 tires with that drop??

try 215-45-17, there's a little more meat on the tire.

215 = width of the tire in mm
45 = 45% of 215mm, which give you the sidewall height
17 = wheel size

If you want more height, then you need a bigger sidewall. A 45 profile will give you a little bit more height over a 40.

in terms of sidewall

205/40/17 82 mm
215/40/17 86 mm
205/45/17 92 mm

I almost got the 215/40/17 but I got hassled by the Tirerack staff because the "load" of the tire was not enough, I'm like it's a freakin civic, it doesn't weigh that much. Needless to say I bought tires somewhere else, settled on 205/45/17 Falken Ziex 512 and I love them. Will buy them again.
