Adding 17's without dropping?????
Adding 17's without dropping?????
alright i own a set of motegi ff5 racing wheels 17 inch with nitto neo gen tires, at first i was going to wait and lower my ride but after talking with several fellow 7thgencivic owners i discovered the risk outwieghed the benefits. So now i have decided to add the wheels without dropping my ride i wanted to know how bad will the fender gap be??? my tires are 205/40/17 please any help would be greatly appreciated Hail to the king baby

H & R springs will give you the most minimal drop without sacrificing your
ride quality. The rearr tires will slightly turn in from the weight....strongly suggest you
get a rear camber kit if you lower the car.

The first year I had my 7th gen I had that size wheel and tire on, I know the tires were not the right size should of had 205/45-17 or 215/45-17, here is a picture....by the way, the gap is frickin' huge like Neon Impact said at least 3".
get some 215/45/17. Thats what I have, check it out in the "my ride" tab. The wheel gap is not bad. If i drop my car, i think i can only drop it 1-1.4" without rubbing. People think my car looks good already at stock height and I dont need to lower it since the body kit makes it look close to the ground and bigger tire closes up the wheel gap.

I only ride on 16's (Konig Blatants), just a little more functional for me with auto X and drag. I dropped the car 1.50" though, it woulda looked lame otherwise. Gonna get a set of 17's for fun and 15's for auto-x this year I think....I hope....we'll see.

i have Eibach Sportsline springs, 2" front drop, 2 1/4" back. tires are 215/45/17, and i've had no problem at all. i actually rubbed more BEFORE the drop than now. i haven't rubbed once since dropping it. i'll have pics of the before/after soon.
First, if you get rims you definately need to drop it. I was considering getting rims without dropping and then i saw the pics in this thread and they look like monster trucks.
Second, if i just get springs, whats gonna happen to my stock shocks, are they just going to wear out quicker or are they going to blowout one day.

Our 04 EX is paid off, but STILL not dropped...for some of us, lowering is also about the quality of the ride, and number of miles spent in the car on crap *** roads.Cars DO always look better dropped
but it's not just about the cost. Here is my horrendous wheel gap

^ Yeah I agree, handling is MUCH improved as well with a drop
Especially if springs/coilovers are accompanied with chassis stiffening. Still, you're going to be subjecting yourself more to road hazards than at stock height

Lower your car... it's probably the most dramatic/least expensive mod you can do to your ride. I installed Goldlines almost 2 years ago and have had no complaints. Now you can get springs for around $120 shipped and have a good friend who knows what he's doing put them on for you.. good luck
