1) What is the widest tire i can put on the stock DX steelies??
2) How much do the stock steelies weigh with no rubber??
3) What would be the best profile for rubbers intended purely for track use??

how wide are the DX wheels? Ive seen people shoehorn 225s on to a 5.5-6" wheel. stock steel wheels weigh about 18 LBS.

DX is like 14x5.5.
I bet you can custom order 14x8s for drag racing. If not, theres probably someone who sells a 14x7. Just search around. Wider is better... it spreads out the tire and your contact patch. And since you don't need to turn hard, the only rubbing issue is with the top of the fender.

thanks guys i really appreciate it. I'll look into those drag wheels too. Would i only buy 2 for the front and then use steelies on the back or do i get special thin wheels?
only prob with these is i'd like to be able to drive to and from the track with them on...so i dont have to mess up my interior carting them around.

You can't drive on the street with true slicks. You'll kill them.
If you get DOT drag slicks they'll last a little longer, but not much. Your best bet is to swap them at the track. You can use the steelies in the back.
2 wheels should fit in the trunk. Just put a blanket over them if it bugs you, but I've tossed 4 wheels in the car a few times, never messed anything up.
