I don't know if this subject has been dealt with before but here goes, if i buy 15 inch rims, and use a 205/50 tire, witch is larger(sidewall) than my 205/45/17's will it wheigh more, and will it render useless the fact that i will buy light weight wheels....

It's about 11 MM's wider on the sidewall, so add that but subtract the difference from 17's and 15's.

99.9% of the time, as the diameter of the tire gets bigger, it weighs more and more regardless of the sidewall size. The smaller the sidewall the more strenght the tire needs and of course that adds more weight.

A lot of peole think that the smaller sidewall keeps the weight difference neglible when going up in diameter size, 99.9% of the time this is not true.

Light weight tires are made but I have never heard anything good about them.
