Are 45's really more comfortable then 40's?
Just curious for those who have either ridden on both sizes or know for a fact. Were 45's really more comfortable over 40's? Thanks for any replies.
not always BlackSI, i'm going to get 45's on my 17's and many people that have 40's are changing to 45's because the wheel well doesn't get as full with 40's... it looks like it fits better with 45's, if you have a choice, go bigger

I am in this dilemma also. I want 17's but don't know the size tire i should get. I hear 205/40/17 looks too small and that 215/45/17 are too big. What does the 205 and 215 matter? is that width or tire? How big of difference is there between 205 and 215? I know that the 45s are more comfortable but some say they look too big..anyone with pics of there 17s would be grealy appreciated!
i like my 205/40/17's i dont know y ppl keep on complaing about 40's being too rough. it feels fine. you do feel the road more and i like that. plus there are way more tire selection available in the 205/40/17 size. check out www.tires.com they have the best prices and free shipping that i have see so far.
I have the same set-up as Civicvtecps1 and I SCRUB!! Do not get 215/45/17 if you plan to lower.
I picked my car up with my new TEIN SS today and I had to take my 17's off because of the scrub on my 215/45. Tomorrow I have to go buy new tires cause I dont wanna roll my fender.

Sorry, they're bad pix. I have 205/40/17 w/ Neuspeed Sports. About 2 finger gaps in front and 1.5 in the back. I could definitely go lower, or get larger tires. Ride sux @$$ w/ 40 series. I think I'm gonna go 215/40 or 205/45 next, just so I can get a larger sidewall...

Yeah- I just got some 205/40/17 and the ride is really harsh and you feel everything. When I was running 215/45/17 its almost like stock but 205/40 are pretty harsh.
But they look good, lol.

205,215 is the width of the tire...If you're lookin for the least amount of road noise between the two go wit the 205. However, obviously they are not as wide as 215. Therefore u wont feel a bigger difference in handling although between 205 and 215 the difference is small.
Definetly go for 45's though, imo. They have more cushion and theres less risk of getting bulges or bubbles in your tires when u go over pot holes n stuff. IMO--215/45
I had the 45's on my hatch and the ride was like stock. I have the 205/40/17 on the 2k1 and it rides like ****. You can feel every bump in the road unless you have a good set up. I have stock struts in the front and Koni Yellows in the back.

In my Kumho Ecsta Supras... The tread pattern is perfect for attracting nails, screws, and other dubris on the street. In May, I got a 3" screw in my tires, right inside one of the treads. Got that patched... In June, I got a 2" nail in there... WTF, am I cursed??? Kumhos are the **** though, I'm satisfied with their performance.

I can't tell you which one rides better, since I've haven't ridden around on both. I can tell you with 40 series tires, you're gonna feel every little bump though. You learn to get used to it, if you like the look of the 205/40/17s.
