Synthetic oil or Conventional???
Synthetic oil or Conventional???
Hi. I have a 2003 civic, 238.000 miles, (D17A1), non-vtec. Will be used as a daily commuter. What type of oil do you guys recommend??? Synthetic or Conventional or Synthetic Blend??? And what about filters??? Anything to stay away from??? Thanks for all of the info...
Re: Synthetic oil or Conventional???
I always like oem filters from a discount online place.
And I been using synthetic for many many years. 90s or earlier?
Just be sure to change it maybe 4 to 6000, not that 10,000.

Re: Synthetic oil or Conventional???
I am a Mobil 1 guy. Sometimes the extended performance, sometimes the high mileage. I have always done 10k miles between changes unless the car has an oil minder and wants me to do it sooner. I always use the extended performance filters and change them with every oil change. I definitely don't go that long on the car that sees track time.
Re: Synthetic oil or Conventional???
I use Mobile 1 synthetic in my Pilot and the GF’s Edge. I let the oil minder tell me when to change it. For both cars I use a Fram filter (the middle grade one). It’s usually between 8k and 10k miles.
I have used Royal Purple in the Pilot and Castrol (whatever is on sale). You can’t go wrong with any oil brand really. In my GTI I run Redline synthetic and change it after 6500 miles but that is overkill for a Civic (unless it’s tracked
