My vtec isnt hooked up

So the problem that I'm having, is that I have a SOHC D16 Y8 motor and we all know that the D16Y8 is VTEC. However, my VTech is not coming on it's not hooked up or something is wrong I don't know why exactly that it's not coming on well I sort of do I've been told that I have the wrong wiring harness or the wrong engine harness in my car which I have a 1997 Honda Civic DX manual and the engine harness that is in my car is an EK Civic harness that came out of an automatic EK Civic is there a way to permanently lock my VTEC in or permanently turn it on from the valve train or is there an electrical way that I can do this? If anyone can help me out I would really really greatly appreciate it. Thank you very much

If you don't have a vtec computer dick all is going to happen.
you don't want it engaged all the time.

Re: My vtec isnt hooked up

At least on the K series, VTEC engaging below ~2000 RPM causes low oil pressure for the rest of the engine.

Like stated, you need the correct ECU and wiring.
