Hey ya'll I'm having an issue with my '02 LX Coupe. Ocassionally when I put it in reverse it makes this really annoying sound (almost as if the clutch weren't grabbing right---but I've checked to make sure that I placed it and gear and it still does this). I'm gonna have Rick Case Honda here in Ft. Lauderdale take a look at it.
My question is should I worry about my CAI being on there, or should I just forget about it and if they give me any problems, bust out the Murrgoson Moss law (SP). i mean this place is big on there aftermarket section, and they used to have a display with the Zex Nitrous kit in it, so I don't see why I'd get a hard time, but I already had a stupid dealership in O-town (Orlando) give me that BS that my warrenty would be voided if I brought in my car for repair with any aftermarket bolt-ons... I haven't been back to that ghetto Honda dealership since.

What kind of noise? A whine? Cuz that's normal with ANY manny tranny. If you're getting a grindy chattery kind of sound, it's not all the way in gear... pull it out, put it in 4th then back into reverse... the gears just weren't completely lined up when you put it in reverse.

Well, just got a call from Honda they say it's the Injen aftermarket Intake that is not properly insulated and that is what is causing the rattling noise that I hear, they said they would insulate it for $117 (too much for me right now), cuz warrenty doesn't cover that.
Any suggestions on how I can insulate it myself? Thanks!

Go to the Hardware store. Buy a roll of marine insulation foam (get the marine stuff because it's the stiffest and it won't absorb water), it's with the window insulation/weather stripping. The pipe rattles on the frame rail down in front and that retarded little rubber piece they give you sticks for about a week. Run a wrap or 2 of the marine foam around the pipe and then cover it in duct tape to make sure it stays put between the pipe and the frame rail. That's what I've got on mine... problem solved. Don't worry about it looking ghetto... it's totally hidden from view. You can get to it by taking out the battery and streching your hand down there. You can also do it from underneath if you jack the car up and go from behind the front splashguard.
