Talking blown struts

theyre defective,I got mine replaced for free. after the dealership told me they couldn't simulate the clicking noise,i got to looking around and found both mine were blown.i took it back and told them exactly what it was, basically did their job for them.sure enough they were blown and they put new revised struts in for free, labor and all.you think they would do that if they didnt know they weren't right to begin with, cuz i dont. its real easy to tell,go to your hood right above you fenderwell and push youre stuts up and down,if its seems way to easy theyre blown.plus the clicking, poor handling, the wheel pulling-youll know.

Arent Konis the same length as stock? So they are being compressed all the time just like thew stock struts. Konis are better quality, but if they are the same length as the stocks..then they will blow as well(just later than the stock wimpys) I could be wrong about the koni length...but I don't THINK that I am.

Yes just push your car up and down and if it's real bouncy and you have the bad handling with the clicking noise, the struts are gone.

I'm waiting for mine to come in. Dealer said a month.

Mine went out at about 45k so it gave me an excuse to get some Koni replacements...No warranty covered them.

wait you have a test pipe and you brought it back to the dealer and they didn't say anything? the downpipe/test pipe is highly illegal...i want to bring my car back to get my rear bumper repainted because they did a **** *** job the first time but i'm worried about bringing my car in because i have the test pipe/downpipe...mite call the cops on me or something. makes me sound like a worry wart but hey it could happen. lease:

maybe it depends on where you live, where i live there's a law but theres no smog check or anything here yet.plus the mechanic probably didnt even care, not his problem-hes working on something entirely different.besides its th hp racing setup i have and it does look like a cat sort of,but its really just like a resonator-no screens or filter straight through.

i've had this problem before and the dealership here actually found out the problem and replaced the struts. I had a clicking sound going on whenever I turned the steering wheel all the way in one direction. Sometimes if i just turn it a little bit, it'll click (more like thumping noise). Test your 01 civics people. Goudy Honda says there's some defects with the 01's because they were "prototype"-ish models, and 02 and 03 improved on the flaws of the 01's...bastards...

If your steering clicks or makes funny sounds when you turn, take it to the dealer and tell them to check your struts!!

yeah i have a horrible knocking noise coming from my struts. it is pathetic how these dealers shafts us car enthusiasts on replacing stuff. i have had my car aligned a couple of times thinking that the severe pulling is coming from the allignment. but i must be wrong. i will be taking my car in in the next couple of weeks to argue with them and get this annoying problem fixed. whats up codeman, its brandon from sears hardware in hilliard.

Get the Konis if you can. They make a world of difference and they'll hold up too. I had 20,000 miles on Konis and ProKit when I traded my Civic in.

no piccoloi02,not really.its just a lot louder.remember youre talking about a 4 cyl engine here.its not like its kickin out a whole lot of exhaust anyway.besides its not like i'm sittin behind the car sniffin the exhaust fumes.you park my car next to any v8 with a catalytic converter on it and i guarantee you that v8 still puts out way more fumes.

hey Brandon what up,thanks for youre help with all those tools, that 256 pc set was the way to go.now i just need to get some kind of holders for all those sockets.anyway i take it you checked out my thread on the blown struts, but have you called the dealership yet?they should warranty, but with the lowering they might try and pull some sh*t on ya.a lot of these guys are saying get the koni yellows, but still you should get a free set of factory struts and and the labor all warranty.i mean look at all these people having the same problem, and thats just the people that know the website and understand their car somewhat.imagine all the people that dont realize it yet.you try to get those struts and i guarantee they'll be sold out-why? because theyre having to repair so many.
you were asking what i had as far as engine work.not a whole lot but i do have some.
1)hp racing full stainless exhaust w/ 4 2 1 header
2)weapon r short intake
3)1 " throttle body spacer
4)diy shortened throttle cable
5)diy throttle body heater bypass(only in the summer though)
6)jet performance chip
7)diablo motorsports o2 sim(that fixes the check engine light when you get to much air for the computer to accept)

just got my front struts replaced under warranty yesterday. OMG what a difference!! I didn't realize they were that bad before, they were squeeking occasionally but I didn't think they were blown, but the difference the new ones made....I think they probably were. It just feels GREAT right now!

Oh for the dude that said you can check if your struts are blown when turning the wheel it's true but don't confuse your power steering noise with blown struts . You only hear the power steering when the steering wheel is at complete left or right.
