rubber thingy under front bumper falling off

What do you call that black rubber thing under the front bumper? Is that the underspoiler? I know there were posts on this a long time ago, but my search results yielded nothing. Anyways, that rubber thingy (sounds dirty ) is starting to come off. Probably from all the unplowed snow and ice that I've had to drive over. Do you know if I can just buy some screws to put it back in? Or does it require an adhesive? I haven't been able to get close and look because it's been raining the past few days.

Its a couple a screws, or possibly some nuts. I have to take my car to the car wash, and than fix mine, mine is also kinda loose. I have fixed mine before too, its not that hard, you might have to jack the car up a little to get under there for easier access.

You don't suppose it's a warranty issue, do you? I'd rather have it fixed once and done right then to keep having to fix it. Unless of course I'm going to get charged for it!

Try it, what the hell. Never thought of that. Say it came loose and you want it fixed.

My dealer fixed mine, as long as it was under warranty. It was continually coming loose. Very frustrating. Now that I'm out of warranty, the part sits in my garage. It never stayed on well. I suggest some type of screws or glue if you don't want it to come off.
How important is it, anyways. Does anyone know what function it serves?

Its held onto the bumper by 4 brackets and 2 clips. A friend of a friend said Honda wanted to charge her like $50 to get it 'fixed'. Just tighten the brackets or spend $1 at HomeDepot to buy the bolts if they fell off.

All it is is a weather stip and when mine started to come off I took it off and left it off. Whenever I stood infront of my car after i took it off it looked alot better. It dont help anything, thats why you have a splash gaurd under the front of your engine

Looking at the figure in the link below, I see the clips that Kre mentioned. Maybe I can pick some up cheap at my dealership. Then again, probably not...

From H and A Accessories, here's some instructions for putting the "rubber thingy" on:

Yeah, its 2 #29 clips and 4 #26 bolts that go into the #3 plates. Did they fall off, or are they just loose?

Well I just got back inside from washing my car, and fixing this damned thing. Its super easy, grab a 10mm socket, loosen the clips, slid the rubber piece, and than tighten. Mine was loose in 2 different spots.

The easiest way to prevent this is to not pull all the way up to the curb, our cars are so short, that this is unecessary.

I'll keep it short.

Hope that was short enough.

Short short version - f*cking air dam.

I have been having the same problem. I tend to pull too far forward when I park, and I have scraped a couple of times (no matter how slowly I pull out onto the street), and the rubber dam keeps coming off. I will try loosening the bolts before trying to put the rubber thing back on (I was wondering why it wouldn't work very well!)

A friend of mine (who used to do auto claims) says he thinks it's for deflecting air up into the radiator, but I'm a little doubtful...it seems too small to be really effective.

Anyone even know the purpose of the rubber spoiler? Does it block rocks or water or something???

And FuKNGRuVN....i'd appreciate it if you didn't steal the icon i worked so diligently on...

Well well well.... I beg yer f*cking pardon born2xLr8, but I had it first. I was wondering when you'd say something... they do look pretty darned close.

http://members.shaw.ca/goodbytes/vroom/front.jpg

Taken THE DAY I bought my ride back in Nov '01, and photocropped for other online sigs on other forums back in '01. It was originally my Outlook sig. Took me all of two minutes to do. And I've had the icon since I was a member here, which according to your sign-up date was a month before you.

So who's ripping off whom?

Besides... blue looks so much better than black.
