7th gen problem solved
thats right I figure the more I drive my 7th gen the more problems I'm giong to run into so I got myself a 91 civic beater for 300 bucks. I got my 7th gen new in may now it has 16000 mi. on it. It needs to just sit there and be good for a while.
it's nice to know that these problematic civics still have high resale value. i'm tempted to trade my 3 month old civic when the redesigned proteges come out, which should be within a year or so.
If I were you, I would rather trade it in as easly as possible. No one knows if the resale value of new civics will drop in one year or two. I live in Bay Area, and there are civics everywhere on the road (I guess every Asian people like Japanese cars, Civic and Integra especially). When more people start feeling the pain as driving the new civics, they are gonna get rid of it. And by that time, the words will be out. It will be more diffcult to get the price you want. In fact, I only had mine for roughly 4 months. Good luck.
And one more point, dont buy first year models, not even if they are built in Japan. Proteges have been good. But reliability wise, they are no better than fremont-built Corollas.
and 90% of the 7th gen owners i know - the people that don't modify their cars, have excellent reliability records with their civics. i doubt there will be any significant drop in resale value
