Door edge guards

If anyone has had a problem with the door creaking while your driving, it could be caused by the
door edge guards. I recently took mine off, and the annoying sound coming from my door stopped.
For a while I thought the sound was coming from inside the car (maybe a loose panel or something), but
I was glad to find it was something so simple. Not sure if anyone else has/had this problem, but thought
I'd post it incase. Anyone had problems with 'em?

I'm trying to figure out how Door Edge guards could cause the door to creak. Were both doors creaking? Did they creak while driving or when you opened the door? Or were they so tight against the dor jam they where rubbing, and making the creaking sound? I'm just curious.

BTW what part of the Tampa area are you at?

You may not have them on your car, because they are a dealer option that normally come with mud flaps. There the little plastic strips that attach to the edge of the door from the door handle down to the bottom of the door. There supppose to protect the edges of the door from paint chips if you open the door and hit another car or a wall, etc.

Only one door (drivers side) was creaking, but the door guard chipped my paint (ironic?) on the
passengers side,it would sometimes come loose on the bottom. That's why I
decided to take them off. Then I noticed that the creaking was gone too. It didn't seem to be
tight against the door, but I guess it was. I'm glad it was that easy!

P.S. My car didn't come with mudflaps, just the door edge guards.
