The sedans are made in Alliston in Ontario Canada. All the high volume cars like Accord, Civic, Odessey, CL/TLs, and MDX are made in either US or Canada. Honda only makes a few models in Japan like the NSX, S2k, RSX, CR-V, and the 3.5RL.

That's weird because the price sticker for my car says it came off the boat @ Port of Newark....weird!

I read that all Sedans were made in Japan somewhere, I do notice though, that on the Window Sticker it shows the origin of where the car came from. When I was at the dealer the Sedan said Japan, but I could have read it wrong.

i would say 90% or more of civics and accords sold here are made in N.A., some 5-10% are imported from Japan (anyone tells me why?). Unlucky me, mine is manufactured in Canada. No offence to Canadians in anyway, though, the build quality of Canadian made is not just as good as it is supposed to be. My well-taken-care-of-Civic has numerous rattles and all kinds of noise on the road, and it is not uncommon as I heard recently about how diffent our civics can be due to their point of origin. It would be hard for me to believe that this is a design problem since Japan imported ones are not like that. Just two cents from me. Kill me if you have a problematic civic starts with "J" in its VIN.

There are a few 01 sedans out there from Japan but it's only the very very first batch. So if you put a deposit down for one before it came out you might have gotten one of those. If you buy a Civic right now it's all made in NA. If you want to check look at the first digit of your VIN. If it's 1 or 4 it's from US, 2 is from Canada, and J (lucky U!) is from Japan.

Cuz it's cheaper to do so. NA sales accounts for 75% of the Accord Honda makes worldwide so it's cheaper to ship as the car is already in NA.

I guess not just the 01s. I actually saw quite some 02s here in the SF bay area that are imported from Japan. A honda dealer that is only 5 miles away from where I live was selling 02 J-Civics in mid-2002. I did not even check them up because they asked too much and no interenet sales. I also have friends who bought their 02 J-Civic in L.A. back in April. When She warned me about the point of origin problem associated with the new civic, I already bought my 2-Civic and thought I got an excellent deal (money wise, it is still the best I have ever known around the bay).

So civic lovers, make sure you get what you really want and pay what you really should.

2 cents, 0 offense

I always understood it to be that the sedan was DESIGNED in Japan and the Coupe was DESIGNED in North America. Not made...
