Headliner repair - girlfriend burned hole with butt!
I have a burn hole about the diameter of a cigarette located on the passenger side headliner real close to the handle above the door on the headliner. I have been to three places and all say it cannot be repaired. Does anyone know how to repair a small hole in the headliner?
I found that for $260.00 a shop will replace the headliner with aftermarket material which should match, but they will not replace the sunshade, which has to remain the OEM color of gray. So I may have two different kinds of gray.
I can order the replacement OEM headliner assembly online from Majestic auto parts in Rhode Island for $260.00, pick it up cause they don't ship- too big, and a shop will install it for another $100.00
p.s. - Girlfriend says she is paying. Any advice or firsthand experience?
Thanks

well my friend had his car valet parked and they burned a whole in the top near the light.
he used :
a fabric repair kit from Autobarn and it matched almost perfectly.
it only cost 9.95. you could try that first, before you pay the 260.

Imo, it is not worth it to repair it for that much. It's impossible to keep a car perfect and in perfectly new condition. I would just try to dye the black burn marks or something. Although, I guess if she has the 260 to burn then make her fix it. 260 to burn....

Am I the only one who wishes our headliner, visors, and pillars were black?

I am ordering a new headliner from the dealer and it is only about $175 for the part, $260 seems way overpriced. When I get the new headliner I will be covering it with a thick black tweed material, sun shade as well. Double-check that price. Maybe I should double-check!
Sometimes, I can see right through myself ...

Yes because I actually like my tan interior. I think the tan looks 10x better than grey. I hate a grey interior in my neon and I hated it.

I'm having my headliner and sun shade replaced under warrenty as I type this, the reason the dealer is doing this is because there was a ¾ inch gap between the headliner and sunshade. I live on the beach and when the sun sets in the evening I get a blinding light coming from my right side in the corner of my eye. I had to complain for over a month before the dealer deceided to replace it, they said that this was a normal occurance in all Civics. Well I told them that a load of BS and thet they need to fix it.
So if you have a gap between the sunshade and headliner take it to the dealer and get it replaced under warrenty

Trust me man ... even if she says she is gonna pay for the replacement ... it gonna eventually come outta your pocket. Don't make your girl pay ... even if she wants to ... its a tiny hole ... and you know that she wont be happy if you make her pay. Girls yah might dish out but for sure they gonna get it all back ... "lets go out to dinner" "buy me this shirt" "Dont these jeans look nice on me" HINT HINT. We as guys never win ... so dont even bother ...
I'd just leave it there if its that small ... Just learn your lesson and DON'T SMOKE, OR LET OTHERS, SMOKE IN YOUR CAR.
and thats my .02 worth
