8k service light, modified car, will honda care?
8k service light, modified car, will honda care?
I've done a "service" search
and I learned that at 8k the maintainence starts to blink
everyone here recommends we take our cars to honda to let them do
a complimentary service check,
the problem is, what if you've modified your car? wont honda see that?
and wont they take that into account when someone goes wrong in the future??
I have a CAI, front/rear strut, and a catback exhaust
has anyone here taken their car to honda with modified parts?'
what was their experience??

Dude, I just took mine in today for it's 10k maintenance, they didn't care, I've got taillights, headlights, grilles, rims, mirrors, intake, exhaust and a few other mods. Just try and find a honda dealer that sells performance parts, and make sure your car is tight, make sure all of the parts have been installed right and nothing is rigged. They actually offered to mod my car even more at the dealer with some of their parts. GOOD LUCK!
It depends on the dealer. If you have a warranty then I think the first service is free. (I think.) Every dealer is different about modified cars. Generally if you modify the engine too much then you've killed the engine warranty. My dealer is pretty moderate as they allow an intake and exhaust (not sure about a modified header) but you should ask about what modifications they don't mind working around before you take it in. Like ripper said, try to find a dealer that's cool with modifications. Some people go to the extent of returning their entire car to stock just to get stuff checked out under warranty which I think is ridiculous.
If you don't have a warranty, just take it.
If you don't have a warranty, just take it.

1. Emissions: if you decided to remove or modify the existing catalytic converter, or anything that would alter the performance of your exhaust emissions.
2. Odometer reading: should you have placed wheels that are either larger or smaller than, then your odometer and speedometer reading will differ from the calibration made by stock OEM wheel/tire diameters.
But in the end, it will all depend on your dealership and what he thinks is still within warranty parameters. Good luck.

I had to take my car in for a noise I was hearing and I was worried that some of the stuff I had on was causing it....so I took all that stuff off and then put it back on when they were done....it was a pain in the a$$, but better to be safer than sorry IMO

It's doesn't matter what the dealership says or thinks. HONDA has the final word. If the dealership tries to void your warranty for something contact Honda to confirm it.
Ok here's the deal like the others said, for the most part they won't care. I had my 2k2 for about 3 or 4 months and put the first 8000 on it. At that time I already had an AEM CAI, DC sports headers, new rims and tires, lights, and DC TCS exhaust. I pulled in with some of the same fear but after talking to one of the mechanics for a couple of minutes they told me they can't void your warranty without proof that your mod was the cause of the problem. It's actually a clause in your warranty if you look at it close. The managers may try to mess with you but this mechanic said if you threaten em by saying well then I'll be back with my lawyer then you're cool. So basically don't sweat it.

I have been going into the dealer for service with modded hondas for several years now. They don't give a rat's @ss if you ask me. I think they like to see them after seeing all those stock looking things all day. However, I have never had a warranty issue though either. Well, my starter did go out once at 100k when I had an electronic ignition. They fixed it under honda's 100k warranty and didn't say a thing about my aftermarket ignition.
Oh, I just went in today for my 2nd oil change. I have 8,250 miles. Nothing was said and I have i/h/e and have it lowered.
