kinda sluggish

hey guys.. i've got a prob... i just had an oil change in my car... (swtiched from 5w-20 to 5w-30) and like.. i dunno when this started but i just noticed it now that sometimes, usually going up hill (not steep hills), that my car feels slow and won't switch gears... it feels like starting on a 3rd gear on a stickshift car... has it been like this? isn't it supposed to shift gears when the engine feels kinda strained? i've got an auto by the way.. sorry for the lengthy post
