Door check mod? lol

I thought about asking this on my car audio forum of choice but I guess this would be more vehicle specific in terms of execution..

So I have heavy doors. (Lots of sound deadener, beefy speakers.)

When I bought this car used the checks had completely failed. I put new ones in and understandably less than a year later they've started to give out already. So I'm looking for a longer term solution to this.

I was thinking of maybe using accord door checks? Are accord doors heavier? lol I know there's some crafty ***** on this forum so I figured it'd be worth giving here a shot, seeing if anyone had some ideas.

They might work if they fit. Maybe Pilot door checks would be stronger?

By failed do you mean they broke or that the detent is not strong enough to hold them any longer? I would see what you can do with the ones you have if it just a detent problem. You might be able to rig up a stronger detent with some creativity. I remember there being plenty of room around that part of the door.

Is it a sedan? Maybe coupe door checks would be beefier since the door is larger. Maybe even Accord coupe door checks.

Ya the checks are crap in these cars, the problem is that the other stronger ones are also larger and don't bolt up... at least for the ones I looked at at the scrap yard a few years back.

Maybe see if the acura el ones are better, but I bet they're that same part, since that is almost the same car.
