Rep Power: 0 How do I put together a 05 EX Oil Pan
I have an 2005 Civic ex and I'm trying to reseal the oil pan to the car. However I can't find anything online specific about what to do. I know I need to use hondabond on certain areas I just don't know where and how much. I've found the torque sequence and that it is 8.7 lb ft for each bolt. Also 33 lb ft for the drain plug.

draw a bead of RTV gasket material on the mating face of the oil pan and put it on. Torque oil pan bolts down in sequence. I've always torqued drain bolt to 25ft-lbs
On the D17A2 (01-05 ex), RTV is the oil pan gasket, so a continuous bead around the pan is required. I've used Permatex minute gasket (both grey and black) with no issues

I used rtv black (oil specific label)
-dried pan and block
-bead of rtv around the pan
-very lightly snugged the bolts up to the pan.
-let sit for 24 hours
-torqued to spec.
