Re: Srs code help

21-2 means 'increased resistance in drivers buckle tensioner circuit'

Will your local dealership cover it under the seat belt warranty?

21-1 means OPEN circuit of the same item, as opposed to 21-2 meaning increased resistance.

That depends on the dealer. Not all will warranty it.

No, technically they do not....not for that particular problem.

If you read the warranty literature that came with the owners manual package when the car was new, most of them say only mechanical seat belt faults are specifically covered...not electrical issues.
If the buckle failed to latch, THAT would definitely be a covered fault.

Replacement for any other failure not specifically mentioned in the warranty guide might be left to the discretion of the dealer

.

.

.
And it might not need replacement anyway. ....but if the dealer will replace it and the code stays away, that's great.

FYI I have fixed many high resistance fault codes in various airbag system areas without replacing any components.
No tricks, just techniques for finding the problem and judicious use of specialized products to solve the problem.

It's gotta actually fail though. Someone at the dealer has to verify the complaint.
