Hole in floor
2003 Acura EL 105K miles (170K kms)
Vehicle inspection comes up with a hole in the floor under driver's seat. I guess I didn't notice it before. I do get under there once in awhile to spray rust proofing from a can. Anyway getting it fixed next week for $300. He'll need to remove seat and carpet and do a proper job cutting away the rotted metal.
I think this is a result of the original owner getting the spray on permanent rust coating that is black and hardens. Over time if you get a crack or tear in this you will get sand and **** in there and it just rots. I could pull some of this material away from the hole and there was sand, crud and rusted metal packed under there.
Bottom-line is to refuse the dealer add-on black hardened rust treatment - it will eventually promote rust.
I will take pics and post FWIW.

Re: Hole in floor
Stop signs, bbqs - I thought you guys were kidding but youtube and google says to use old appliance steel like fridges and washers etc.
Anyway best to have it done by a specialist as this vehicle will be passed on to university-bound daughter.
Pic as promised...
