Clutch Pedal Engaged with Slave Disconnected
Clutch Pedal Engaged with Slave Disconnected
Changed the clutch this weekend on a 2001 Civic. While the slave was disconnected the clutch pedal was engaged.
The pedal went straight to the ground and has stayed there. Put everything back together and the pedal is still on the floor. The manual specifically says not to engage the pedal with the slave disconnected but it does not say what happens and how to fix it.
Can anyone point me in the right direction here. Is the slave shot and need to be replaced or is there a simple fix that I am missing?

Re: Clutch Pedal Engaged with Slave Disconnected
If the slave cylinder did not come apart (should have been obvious if it did), it has to be bolted on and you have to pump the system back up to restore normal hydraulic operation. This will probably involve picking the pedal up off the floor at least a couple times.
If you disconnected the hydraulic line anywhere between the master and slave you will need to bleed air out of the clutch hydraulic system. (research bleeding methods)
Again, this will probably involve picking the pedal up off the floor several more times.

The push rod, boot, piston and spring came out. I put everything back together and bolted it back in place. Is this what you man by coming apart?
None of the connections to the hydraulic lines were ever broken so I would assume bleeding was not needed.

The push rod, boot, piston and spring came out.
If it was reassembled correctly it may be ok but the system needs bled for sure.
If there is any question about it not being reassembled correctly, replace it and bleed system.
