Re: O2 sensor mounts exhaust pipe

I can't see what is going on and your description isn't drawing a real clear picture in my head.
Just hard to get into gears at times? No grinding or crunch noises?

Clutch fluid full? No problem getting it into a gear at a stop, right?

Buy a couple quarts of Hondas MTF and change out the manual trans fluid?.....The issue could just be that simple. And damn cheap if it helps.

Put a stock shifter back in and see how it goes?

Yeah just doesn't seem to wanna go in gear when shifting to fourth some times. What I do when it does it is drop to third then try to put in fourth again and it usually works. And no grinding or crunching. Goes in gear at a stop with no issues. And come to think of it my mechaniv buddy that did the clutch job made a comment about the gear fluid possibly being a little low. And giving what we know about the previous owner and how he did things it's probably the same gear fluid that was from the factory lol so I'll def do that for sure. When I get paid and was maybe thinking of getting another short throw shifter and having installed by someone who does things the right way. Instead of the quick easy short cuts. And the only description I can think of giving for the 5th and reverse issue. Is when you move the shifter over towards the right of the vehicle where you would either push up for 5th or dowm for reverse. It's like there's gigantic spring or something pulling it back towards it's resting position. So much that when I go to put in reverse. I have use two hands some times to get it over far enough to properly get all the way into reverse. Hopefully its a little more descriptive to give ya an idea. And I can't say thank you enough buddy. I'd treat ya to dinner or something if we were in same area for all the assistance lol. Cause so far you've been spot on with everything lmao.

that sound like it could be a shitty short throw shifter, but definitely check all your linkages and fluid

SHould I guess some fluid came out when the axles were removed, and he didn't fill it back up?

Yeah it's supposed to have a detent so you have to push it toward that side.

Naturally it lays spring loaded to the middle--the 3-4 gear zone. You have to pull it toward you for 1-2, and you have to push it over to get to 5th. Reverse should be locked out so you can't accidentally go straight from 5th to reverse, you probably have to hit neutral and go sideways first.

I'd say forget the short throw stuff and go back to stock....so you know what it's supposed to be like. Stock unit had a pretty short throw to begin with IMO.

Right I know its suppose to have some resistance so that it'll go back to normal resting position in neutral. But it's savage strong like you need two hands to put in reverse. And I'll def search for stick shifter.

Fluid doesn't really have anything to do with how hard it is to push to the right tho right or were you meaning for the not wanting to go into gear sometimes and I'll bet it's a junk short throw not saying its the issue just that I'm almost certain it's not a quality part

Re: O2 sensor mounts exhaust pipe

A short throw would give you less leverage to push past the springs than the stock shifter setup.
Or it might just be crappy or poorly installed. IDK.

poor fluid condition could cause trouble going to any gear, unrelated to the shifter issue.

Ok that's what I thought lol. I'm def gonna drain and refill the gear fluid to see if that corrects it. I mean it's good maintenance to do anyways but I think the super strong resistance is either improper installment or crap parts. I'm gonna be taking the iacv off tomorrow and cleaning the heck outta it so I'll let you know if I was able to clean it or if it's shot lmao. Again thank you idc how bad onejzsupra thinks you're spoon feeding me knowledge I'm eating it all up lol.
