Re: Need Help

I can't tell what you have there.
Looks like you have the spacers in place ok?

You may be talking about the rings, part #6, called insulators? Probably black plastic?
Yeah, they need to be in the correct places. They will fit, they came out of there so they will go back in there.
There may only be about one or two threads exposed on the studs after you get the nuts on and tightened.

Re: Need Help
They only have to go deep enough to get the fat seals into the holes so there's no vacuum leaks, they can't be buried deep at all.
They are fine.
They are fine.

It's Alive!!!!! Fired right up. No check engine lights or anything. Only issue I can see so far is that it seems to idle a bit low, about 500 rpm and just a tad rough. Walked behind it and saw some water under and behind the tail pipe that made me nervous, but it was clear and odorless.
Letting it cool down, then I'm gonna recheck the fluid levels and go for a nice ride to make sure it's okay.
Thanks for all the help everybody. I'd Like to throw out a big thank you to ezone- your wisdom and quick responses were critical in getting this done! Also, bsmiley, thanks for the shop manual.

Dang! Test drove it around town and everything was fine, it started to idle better. Went out on the interstate and it ran great but as I was exiting the engine light came on. Threw the scan tool on and it's got a p0401 code for insufficient EGR flow. Everything about correcting this condition online seems to be about cleaning that metal piece between the head and the IM, or the injectors, both of which I did when I had th engine apart. Is there an easy fix for this?
If not, can I let it go for a while without wrecking the car? I need a little break!

Re: Need Help
Hmmm.....Did you have a choice of intake gaskets? You may have picked the one without the holes for the EGR passage, or the kit was wrong, or something along those lines.
This thread has pics of the 2 different gaskets:
