I recently replaced my 93 civic coupe with a 2002. Love Hondas. I noticed shortly after purchasing the new one that there is a slight grinding/whirring sound coming from my transmission. I start the car and when I let the clutch out I can hear it. I recently changed my MTF and that seemed to help a lot, it no longer makes the noise as often but it is still prevelant mainly when cruising in third gear and up. It has also been seeming more difficult to shift into first and second.
I've done some research and I'm thinking it's the ISB. I am hoping I can make it through the wisconsin winter before having to pay to rebuild my transmission. Although, when I changed the fluid I noticed some very fine metal filings in the old fluid so I imagine it's only a matter of time before it becomes irrepairable.
Maybe if I flush the fluid a couple times before spring it will survive????
