Ok I have a 94 civic 180k automatic, and only drive it about 14 miles a day to work and back home. So my problem is that it shuts off at me only on my way back home from work at least once a day, and its when I am leaving work at about 3:30 pm. never shuts off in the morning 6 am. The car misfires and shuts off, at a complete stop (red light/stop sign). The battery light comes on and so does the oil light, before it shuts off. luckily I am able to turn it back on and keep driving. I have changed the following; battery, the terminals for battery, gas filter, air filter, platinum plugs, new wires, new rotor, distributor cap is good, I also cleaned my IACV with carburetor cleaner. I also put fuel injector cleaner in my gas tank.. I am completely lost!!! my CEL light doesn't come on.. what could it be? I have wasted quite some cash and am at a road block! any suggestions ?

After the engine is all warmed up and the temp gauge is in the normal middle area, what is the idle RPM at when it is not dying?

It does not have an rpm gauge.

You need to figure out if it dies because of a low idle speed problem, or if it is dying because of another problem.
I sure can't diagnose your car over the internet. I can only make wild guesses.


Base idle speed spec is 700 RPM +/- 50. If too low that could allow it to die easily.

Bad ignition switch?

Look around
Are you near any source or RF interference? Huge antennae, or..... You know, like a burger joint drive-thru where they use microwaves that can nuke an elephant in 30 seconds?
