1.7 Head locating pin locations

I'm in the process of replacing the head gasket in my cousin's '03 Civic, when I pulled the head/intake mess off, the dowel pins stuck in the head, and then abruptly fell off on the floor before I could verify which holes they went in. I am pretty sure the one on the right is in the correct position, but I wanted to throw it out there to see if anyone knew for sure before I stuck the head back on and ended up on a wild goose chase like the guy who wrote the sticky did. I'm going to try to attach a pic.

Lay the head gasket back over it. the dowels should only fit through the head gasket in 2 holes.

I think they are in the right place, but the gasket will tell the story.

(CHECKED: Diagram shows the same. Dowels on the exhaust side of the block.)

I thought about that, but the gasket that was in there had holes big enough at all options. I did grab the new one and set that on the block, and you're right, the dowels only fit in the exhaust side. Thanks for your help!

Re: 1.7 Head locating pin locations

Thanks guys, it's all back together. The only regret I have is following the Mitchell instructions putting it back together and installing the intake after the head was back on instead of putting it back as one unit. I pulled it together, and I sure wish I would've put it back together that way. Thanks again!
