01 Civic EX-Coolant Reservoir and Engine Hunting
01 Civic EX-Coolant Reservoir and Engine Hunting
Hey I have some problems with my engine hunting (or revving up and down when the A/C is on). Decided to replace coolant and burp the coolant to free all air bubbles, (has 175,00 miles and I just bought it, figured that it has never been changed so I would start with this). Did not work.
1st question: After completing coolant change I filled reservoir tank. The problem was the reserve/overflow tank was so dirty I ended up filling it almost to the top, about an inch or two from the cap. Should I drain it so that it is in between the min/max lines or can I get away with leaving it high?
2nd question: The next thing I will be doing is cleaning the IACV to try and fix this revving problem. Wondering if anyone had any other tips besides doing this.

Could be a few things.. but the reving issue could be low freon..compressor kicks on and off draining more power causing idle to bounce.. If i am not mistaken when full the compressor stays on and you wont notice a drop...(dont quote me, compressor may turn on and off anyway)
check out some of these posts on your same issue..

I cleaned the IACV yesterday, it was very dirty. It helped the idling problem significantly, but is not 100% Maybe I did not get all the crud out of the IACV; I got it spotless, but I couldn't get the electrical connector part off, I wasn't able to spin the the valve manually and see if it was jammed up.
Next step will be checking freon and possibly servicing the A/C (Advice from GUNNER)
Maybe I will check out the O2 sensors as well.
