Rep Power: 0 02 Civic LX bad codes
My 02 Civic LX has been going into Limp mode (wont go past 4k rpm in neutral or drive) for about a week, even though the CEL hasnt come up. The three codes that have shown up are P1259, P0141, and P1491.
I havent started doing any trouble shooting on the O2 sensor but I will. My question is on the P1259 and P1491 codes. I haven't found and don't believe the 2002 Civic LX has Vtec or EGR valve. So why am I getting these codes?!?!?
Any help will be appreciated.

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one
Re: 02 Civic LX bad codes
P1259 VTEC malfunction code---make sure the oil is full and clean, first.
Refill the oil to proper level.
Erase the code and see if it comes back.
P0141 rear O2 sensor heater circuit. Probably needs the sensor.
P1491 EGR valve insufficient lift.
You wouldn't have EGR codes if the car was not supposed to be equipped with it; Therefore, you haven't found it yet. 99% get the valve replaced for this particular code.
Hang on, checking for more......

Re: 02 Civic LX bad codes
More: USA LX has EGR, but no VTEC.
No idea what other markets got.
If Canadian, the LX there is probably the same as our EX?
You must have them if the computer is throwing codes for them.

Thanks ezone for replying. As I continued to look I found two other places that said 02 civic Lx dont have EGR valves.

I'm starting to wonder if there is something weird with my PCM, thinking there is a EGR valve or Vtec where there arent....... Should I get a new ECU?

Re: 02 Civic LX bad codes
All US market Civics have EGR (AFAIK)
Canada only has some equipped with EGR.
Only one way to know, and it isn't on the internet.
Figure out where each item is supposed to be.
Open your hood.
See if they are where they should be.
The PCM doesn't lie. (Unless someone has replaced the engine or the PCM......Aftermarket stuff maybe?)
EGR
VTEC
I know, wrong engines. Dang. VTEC valve is in the same place though.
