MPG issues and Maint. required check light ?
hello all ! i have a 2005 honda civic EX sedan , during last week my MPG dropped from 30 to 23
i drive around 120 miles a day so thats a kick in the nuts :/
my exhaust manifold has been leaking , and i ordered a new O2 Sensor . is there anything else available to cure my mileage problem ? thats what i got after lurking through the forums.
and a month ago my "maint. required" light came on , what should i do to turn it off ?
thanks a lot
and i did search through the forums hope u guys could help me out

A bad O2 sensor can give you bad mpg. Did you order a Honda sensor? Has it had plugs lately? Air filter clean? Tire pressure good? Get exhaust leak fixed.
To reset the maintance light you have to hold the trip button down while you turn the key to position 2. Wait 10 seconds and the light will reset. I think it flashes when it resets.

anything else i should look for ? If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

A cracked exhaust manifold leaking exhaust can cause false readings from the O2 sensor, and the computer tries to add extra fuel to compensate.
Winter blend fuel can cause a drop too.

Put the right parts, use the correct OEM plugs and check your air filter.
You need to fix your problems, of course your mpgs will drop with the problems you stated.
