01 EX - Squeeling Like Nobodies Business
So yesterday I turned my car on and got a ridiculous screaching from under the hood.
It didn't start out quite so bad, and it gets the worste while it idles.
I looked under the hood and it seemed to be coming from a wheel under a belt. Problem is, I don't know nearly anything about cars and was hoping I could get some help identifying the part.
Its in the bottom right (Towards the headlight) and it's the top belt above everything else. Looks like the power steering fluid runs into it, and this runs into several other spots.
What part might this be? And how ridiculous is the cost of a new one likely to be? As far as Honda's are concerned, I seem to have a lemon and am really thinking this car is no longer worth a large repair investement. This will be about the 7th mechanical issue I've had in about a year.

Its probably one of the accessory belts, if they get wet or oily they squeal.
If the belts are old they can stretch and will start to slip, also causing a squealing sound.
If they're not too old they could just be loose.
But if they need to be replaced, its a fairly easy and cheap job.

I think that you are right. That thread does seem to fit exactly whats going on with my car.
I'll attempt to see how it goes without the AC on. I'm not even a novice mechanic, so I'll take it back to where I got the new Alternator about a year back and have them tighten it.
Appreciate the help. You guys are always awesome here.
