Do alloy wheel improve ride comfort?

Since alloy wheels are lighter than steel wheels, they reduce the unsprung weight of the vehicle. Does this improve ride comfort when driving on uneven pavement? I've heard that if the ratio of sprung to unsprung weight is high, it results in a very smooth ride. This does make sence to me because lighter wheel would get less momentum when hitting a pothole and would be unable to destabilize the car. Well that's my opinion and i haven't been able to test it yet since i'm still riding on 14" steel. Buy for those of you who have aftermarket alloy wheels, have you noticed any difference in ride comfort?

I'm not positive but, as far as I know the rim weight has nothing to do with the smoothness of the ride. Your suspension and tires will make the difference. The lower profile tires the more you will feel the road. The larger the rim and tire the more you will feel the road. True coileovers will be a ruffer ride then those fake coilovers, which will be be rougher than springs and struts.
