I purchased a 2001 Civic yesterday and when I got in my car this morning it started beeping a few times . When I started to drive the D in the dash started blinking like it was lighting up then going dim and making a ticking noise. When I pulled over and turned the car off but left the key in the needles for the fuel, KM's, and Temp started to blink instead and the P started doing what the D was previously doing when I kept her going in park. I am not sure if this has anything to do with the fact that I didn't use my remote starter/alarm to unlock my car this morning..I used the other keys instead. Someone in a another forum said it's my transmission going. I don't know much about cars but I find this a little hard to believe. I'm leaning towards it having something to do with my car alarm..but I figured I would come here and ask the professionals..So any advise would be greatly appreciated! Also...when i got to work and shut the car off, lock the doors and went inside..the tail lights blinked for a good 2 or 3 minutes but then stopped...any info?

The "D" light blinking usually means a transmission issue. Either the start clutch or the one of the shift solenoids is not working properly.
