How to replace the catalytic converter and Exhaust Manafold

Still paying for the rear brakes and now I find out my catalytic converter and Exhaust manafold need replacing.

Is this something someone with reasonable tool skills can handle... (I've done front breaks, plugs, oil, -the general basics)

Its about $300 in parts on internet but local shop inflation kills ya.

Thanks,
kubie

Do you have an ex or a lower model?

Trying to replace a cat is difficult, it's only a few bolts but they're underneath the car and almost always require a torch to get them out they rust and seize up so badly. I'd order online, go to a local exhaust shop, hand the guy $40 and tell him the parts are in the trunk put them it.

It might not be to bad then, but it's still very possible that you'll run into difficulty with seized bolts.

Remove the e.m. heat shield and the removing the exhaust manifold itself is straight forward, use lots of good pentrating lube and a torch if you have it.
