green light key....

Lately I am having trouble starting my car due to the green key flashing on my dash.My mechanic diagnosed that it was my immobilizer ring by the ignition area that is messing up wondering if I buy that immobilizer ring. Is the ring plug and play or do I have to reprogram it? or everythiing is done by the ECU?

Re: green light key....

well there is an immobilizer unit, not just the key cylinder. and its tied to the ecu as well. if you change a part of the immobilizer, you need to have keys reprogrammed.

Re: green light key....

its possible you might not have to. i think that is just a "reader" that sends the key code to the ecu. but im not completely sure.
