New Car Mileage?
I've seen the posts about mileage in the past, but I'll go for it again...
I just picked up my 2k lx coupe, and am still on the dealer's tank of gas. The problem is I will have to refill today and will have only gotten 230 miles to the tank. That's like 17-20 MPG. What's the deal?!? That's nearly half of the supposed 33 MPG Honda says! Is this typical of a new car?

That may not be an accurate way to calculate your mileage cuz your tank may not have been completely filled by your dealer, and there is usually quite a bit of gas left in your tank even though your gauge reads empty.
If you want to get an accurate mileage figure for your car: fill up your tank today as far as it can go, and reset your trip meter. Then drive around normally until empty (go easy on the car cuz you still have to break it in). Fill up again (at the same pump if possible), and then calculate your mileage, using the amount of gas you just bought and the miles you put on since last fillup.
I was getting great mileage on my car from day 1, and it steadily got better and better.

I've been averaging 35mpg since day one. I have 7000 miles on my car now, no mods, 5 speed, and I don't drive the car hard at every start. Do exactly as Ronin said about calculating your milage, its the only way to do it. Don't use the fuel gauge for anything but to know when to fill up.
If you wanna calculate your milage accurately... fill up the car... set the trip to 0...then use at least 3/4 of the tank... fill up again then take the amount of mile you went on the trip and divide that by the amount of gallons you filled up the second time... thats the best way to do it... no human error... just raw fact!!!
yeah, redo your testing procedure. you'll find that you get way more than 17mpg. on my first tank i got around 37. i think that's amazing with all the stalling out that i did (first time driving a stick!)
