Yet another 2001 Civic Automatic Transmission problem
Yet another 2001 Civic Automatic Transmission problem
While driving to school yesterday i noticed that my car was not shifting correctly, yet i decided to continue driving it. about twenty miles later after stopping it completely stopped, and it would not shift into any gear at all. Before it stopped the check engine light came on. Later on i checked the codes and i got PO730 which is incorrect Gear Ration and PO740 torque converter clutch circuit open. I was researching online and most of the people with this problem changed the whole transmission. My question is do i have to?
Re: Yet another 2001 Civic Automatic Transmission problem
Before this happened my transmission did not show any signs breaking down, and i just changed the transmission oil about 4 months ago, and it's still clean. My car seems to go into reverse fine now but it does not go into drive.

Re: Yet another 2001 Civic Automatic Transmission problem
if the gears never slipped at all, it may be a solenoid or other electronic issue and not a mechanical problem with the trans itself.

Thanks for the input, the car seems to lock into reverse more often now, but it rarely goes into drive. Is there an easy way to figure out if its a solenoid or an electronic issue?
