My 01 Civic EX has been having an issue where the radio will shut off, the ABS, SRS light come on and then everything is instantly back to normal. The car doesn't actually shut off. I brought it in to the dealer to get the diagnostics done. After $140, they tell me they can't find the problem. My car is just getting old they said. May be time to consider junking it! Then told me to get $1500 worth of other jobs done....
Any ideas? I've done google searches and came up with the alternator or the ignition switch.

Check your grounds. Make sure they are all clean and grounded properly under the hood.

Thanks. I just got the car back from the stealership last night. First thing I did was open the hood to check the grounds and realized that the positive battery cable was loose. Didn't take any effort to remove it from the terminal at all. Hopefully that is it, since I've read others with similar issues. I can't wait to call the dealership back and bitch them out. For $130, you would think they would have caught that!

I have a similar problem with my 02 Civic HX

Out of no where, about 1-4 times a month my car will randomly cut off. Here is what happens:

I will be driving normally and all of a sudden hear my radio slightly cut out for a split second... when I hit the brake pedal or turn on my heat or AC the car cuts out for a second... the guages go down, the SRS light comes on and my radio cuts out, the head lights dim.. after that second the car is back to normal and it may happen a couple times in a 2 minute period but then goes away for a few weeks.... I replaced the alternator thinking that was the problem, didn't change anything. Im stumped.
