Rep Power: 0 should i trade my civic?? need expert advice A.S.A.P
hello everybody.. please tell me your opinion
first of all i have a 2001 civic lx 2 door 5 speed sohc non vtec.. so the body isn't in the best condition.. no rust, but i hit a deer so the hood driver side fender and bumper needs to be replaced. i have the fender in my car but not painted yet.. My car has 212,000 miles. new coil packs, spark plugs, oxygen sensor, 100 miles on new breaks, less than 100 miles on tires. No performance parts. i have 6k H.I.D headlights...
D17A1 engine
Displacement : 1,668 cc (101.8 cu in)
Bore and Stroke : 75 mm × 94.4 mm (3.0 in × 3.7 in)
Compression : 9.5:1
Power : 115 hp (85.8 kW, 117 ps) @ 6100 rpm
Torque : 110 ft·lbf (15.2 kg/m, 149 Nm) @ 4500 rpm
Redline: 6750 rpm
Valvetrain : SOHC (4 valves per cylinder)
Fuel Control : OBD-2 MPFI cut: 110 mph
now for the trade
1992 civic (not sure if its a cx or vx) hatchback
Fifth generation civics are my favorite.
about the car
actually ill put the Http website
http://greenbay.craigslist.org/cto/1471712883.html
i looked at the car yesterday, the engine is clean, full exhaust 2 1/4", its a vtec, halo headlights and has clips for rear bumper and side skirts (not installed) it has power windows not locks.. he put a vtec ECU in i believe. the guy said that there is a bubbling sound coming from radiator... im not sure if thats a big deal, but i have a brand new radiator on my 95 civic that i dont drive. so i could fix that for free...
he also said it needs an alignment (guessing thats because of the lowering kit and wider rims) but would that be a long term problem after i get an alignment?
Please let me know if this is a good trade (straight up)
D15Z1 vtec engine
Displacement : 1,493 cc (91.1 cu in)
Bore and Stroke :75 mm × 84.5 mm (3.0 in × 3.3 in)
Rod Length : 137 mm
Rod/Stroke : 1.62
Compression : 9.3:1
Power : 90 hp (67.1 kW, 91.3 ps) @ 5600 rpm
Torque : 98 ft·lbf (13.5 kg/m, 133 Nm) @ 4800 rpm
Valvetrain : SOHC VTEC-E (3-4 valves per cylinder depending on RPM)
VTEC Switchover : 2500 rpm
ECU Code : P07
Fuel Control : OBD-1 MPFI
im most likely not going to keep that engine in there.
ALSO WHAT ENGINE WOULD BE THE BEST TO SWAP FOR THE 92 CIVIC? (easiest and most Horse power engine with vtec)
are B series engines legal for the 92? i know i cant put a b series in by 01

seems like it needs alot of work. and bubbling sound in coolant may mean blown headgasket, so be careful.

so how can i tell for sure? there is no smoke from exhaust from cold start.. no visible leaks of any kind on the engine.. Im going there tomorrow to look at it in the day light.. ill check the oil and antifreeze. What else should i look for?
but if it is blown my dad can fix that.. what other things could cause the bubbling?

Sounds like trading a beater for a beater to me Sorry if that's rude. Just the one you want is 17 years old. It's probably been beat up pretty bad... I say keep your car.

but shouldn't the 92 be better since it has less miles on the engine.. if the engine craps out i have a D15b7 to use till i figure out what is the best swap.. but the 92 has NO rust where as my 01 has a couple tiny spots starting.
