Buy 2001 Civic With Replaced Engine and Transmission? Please advise ASAP!

Hi. Please advise your thoughts ASAP regarding the advisability of buying a 2001 Honda Civic. A used car lot is selling it for $3900. The transmission went out over the weekend, so the owner is going to have his mechanic put in an engine and transmission from a totaled 2005 Civic that have been sitting inside the repair shop for four years. The used car guy said he has paperwork showing that the used engine and transmission have about 15,000 miles on them. He is not offering any warranty on the engine and transmission.

Thank you very much.

Well if they are swapping it with a newer motor and transmission I don't see why not. The only bad part is that he is not giving you warranty on the work they are doing. This is kind of shady in my opinion. It's a good price though if they are doing all the labor for free.
